HOC September Challenge

Image
Hi there, It is, once again, my turn to provide inspiration at the  House of Cards September Challenge. This month we were provided with a color/photo challenge:   Love these beautiful Autumnal colors. I used a new die from Wplus9, with some  blue scrap paper in the background. Paper pieced an old CTMH set.   I really enjoy paper piecing, love the little bit of dimension added with patterned papers.  Ribbon, a button and a twine bow finishes it off. Please join us at the HOC Challenge or just visit to see all the gorgeous inspiration from the DT. Thanks Ang

I saw this sketch last week...

at the Cardabilities Blog and decided to play along.   I love the hexagons, have punches and dies, but always have trouble coming up with my own designs for them. Here is what I came up with:  The patterened paper is from an old BoBunny 6X6 pad.   It is the Little Miss Collection.   It has a tea party feel to it,  I guess for Little Miss Muffet.  I wanted a very subtle background.   Used Ivory on Ivory leaf dies.   It looks really good in person.  I wanted to use a little lace on it to go along with the tea theme.  Found the perfect colored ribbon scrap, so glad I save those little bits. Thanks for stopping by, Ang

More goodies...

Hello, I wanted to share some cards I have made over the last couple of weeks.   Just for fun! Both cards use these beautiful feather stamps and dies.  I cut the bottom of the card like a file folder, hence the shadow over the sentiment.  Just some scrap paper and ribbon. So simple, yet beautiful.   The feathers are stamped on and embossed on vellum. My second card:     I am in love with this one.  The gorgeous background is a piece of  Teresa Collins 6X6 paper. Pretty ribbon scraps, a die cut thank you, a cute little bird and we're good to go.. Thanks Ang

Just for Fun

Image
Hi Again, I wanted to share something I made over the last couple of weeks.   It wasn't  for any challenges, just for the fun of it. The entryway in my house has a small mirrored coat rack in it.   I have made a couple of small garlands to hang on it over the last couple of years.  I really like making them, they are only about 36" long  and can be made on a much smaller scale than a larger garland might be. Here is my latest. I was originally inspired by the beautiful California poppies that covered Mt. Diablo back in late spring.  We had taken a drive up the mountain and the poppies were everywhere.  I wish I had taken a picture. I was inspired to come home and make some flowers.  I wasn't sure originally what I was going to do with them except I knew they would be for a new garland. I had purchased these little burlap bags a while back.   Again, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, just knew I had to have them.   Sometim

WMS Fanatics Anniversary

Image
The Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge Blog is turning 1.  I love Waltzingmouse Stamps and have been a fan of this challenge since the beginning.  While I haven't participated in every challenge, I have done quite a few, and I couldn't pass up this chance to congratulate Tara and Deborah on thier anniversary. The challenge is to make a birthday or anniversary card. Here is my card. I cased this, almost exactly, from Lisa at I'm in Haven .   I had pinned it a while back. I used my favorite flower stamp, WMS Funky Flowers.   I absolutely love this set.  The scrumptious sentiment is from Hero Arts. Thanks for visiting. Ang

House of Cards - August

Image
Hi there, It is my turn to share over at the HOC challenge .   Here is the sketch: The challenge is for a card, but once my creativity started flowing,  I had to make a little wall hanging. (I made a card too, see below) I had colored these images, with Copics, a couple of days ago.  I was planning on using them to create a set of cards.  An idea popped into my head for the wall hanging and there was no going back. It is about 5" by 7". I covered the images in crackle paint. The layers from the sketch are done in burlap and vellum.   I love the heavy weight of the SU vellum.   and added some beads to the hanging cord I usually give away, as gifts, the things I make but I think this one is a keeper.   Now, my card: My girlfriend asked me to make a wedding card for her to send to her cousin.  We had no color scheme or anything to go with, so I went pretty simple. Sparkly paper from SU and some gorgeous Authentique paper.

Don't let yourself be fooled...

by this cute little Teacup Stack die from Poppy Stamps      Don't get me wrong, I love it but it is a little tough to work with. Let me backup a little. When I saw the CASology Challenge #109   key word was Java, I couldn't resist participating. I love, love, love coffee and coffee themed stamps sets.  I think I may own almost all of them out there. So I decided top use my new die.  This die begs to be paper pieced.  Once you cut it out some of the little pieces are very thin and do not handle gluing well.  I wanted to layer several cuts to make a thinker stack and gluing them together was torture.  I thought about using my Zyron, but the thought of all the little glue boogers turned me off to that idea.  I think my final piece is about my 15th attempt with this die.  I tried everything, paper piecing, coloring pieces with pens, coloring with Copic's; it was a mess. I am still not thrilled with the way I lined up the layers of the dies

HOC July - Add a Bow

Image
Hi there, It is my turn to provide some inspiration at the HOC July Challenge . I went pretty simple this time with a tag.   I intended to make a card but once it started to come together it just needed to be a tag.   You know how that happens sometimes.  The tag is made from a new MFT die that I love.   It makes a little clipboard.   The gorgeous flowers are SU and the sentiment is Hero Arts. And there is my bow. Happy summer, Ang
