Counterfeit Birds

Image
I have been working on this for a week or two.  I went back and forth on the idea for the twigs.  This started out as a holder for the Williams-Sonoma peppermint soap collection that they carry during the holidays.  I love the stuff and a very dear girlfriend of mine gave me the set for Christmas.  The box is super sturdy and I couldn't just recycle it.  It kind of reminded me of a birdhouse, hence my paper choices.  It started out red, so I painted it and then covered it in papers from my Counterfeit Kit.  The ribbon is from my kit also. I decided to use some actual twigs from my backyard. There is a twig and bird on each side.  I used, for the first time, Helmar Liquid Scrapdots to adhere the birds. Love it.  Since I was adding them to the twigs it was very uneven.  The Liquid Scrapdots made for perfect dimensional adhesion by evening everything out. Hmmm...what to store in it. Thanks for visiting. See you soon, ...

birdhouse, but I wanted to link it to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog since I used papers from my kit.  I also had a few more details I wanted to share. Here is the entire thing, it is about 26" long.   I found this little cat bead in my stash and thought it was cute.  It sits on top of the fence.  I cut the trees out of a paper from my kit and added them around the house.  On the roof, I used the wood veneer from my kit. It's hard to see but on the picture to the left I cut out a little bird that I had embossed and he is sitting on the little perch.  (enlarge photo if nec) And hanging from the bottom of the house is shown in the photo to the right. Thanks for visiting. See you soon, Ang
