Mad for Paper

I got some time to play with some new PTI goodies yesterday so I decided to participate in this weeks MIM, which is to make thick chipboard accents by stacking thin chipbaord die cuts. Here is my card.  This is one of those that I like better than my original vision.   The placement of the die cut and the je t'aime label were decided because  I had to cover some mistakes, but I really like how it looks. I was inspired by these labesl I found in my stash the other day. Remember these?  They are by a company called Me and My Big Ideas (MAMBI).  Not sure if they are even around anymore.  Anyway. the package has about 5 or 6 of these little fabric labels with different words on them.  I thought I had an Eiffel Tower stamp or some paper but couldn't find anything.  Then I spotted this pack of file folders I have with Parisian pictures on them.  So I cut this vintage postcard image out of one of them.  Then I die cu...

 I made this card for PTI's Make it Monday challenge.  The challenge was to make a glitter die border.  Erin Lincoln provided a video of her technique, if you are interested in the idea.   Here is my card:  You know how you love some things you make and some are eehh, ok?  Well this falls into the eehh, ok catagory for me.  It was much prettier in my head.  I used my PTI Iconic Images set again.   My largest order ever from PTI arrived yesterday.  Wohoo!  It was so fun opening up the box and putting together all my new stamp sets, including the beautiful Iconic Images.   I was waiting for the delivery to finish up my MIM #27 entry, another note pad.  This is going to be part of a set that I am making as a hostess gift for a friend.    It all started with this little hat.  I had this idea to make a little straw hat using the burlap that I had mod podged.  I used this stamp from SU's Garden from the Heart set.   Luckily when I stamped it on the burlap the flowers lying across the hat didn't show up. Wasn't quite sure how I was going to deal with them.  So I cut the hat out added some brown Copic around the edges to define it and added some tiny silk ribbon I had around it.  The ribbon matched perfectly to PTI's Blueberry Sky so that became part of my color scheme along with Ripe Avacado , Kraft and Brow...

I combined two challenges on this card; PTI's Make it Monday & CPS #126. Let me start off by saying this card is so not me. I think it is really pretty and am happy with the way it came out, but it is just not me (kwim). First off, I rarely use yellow, it is probably my least liked color (sorry yellow lovers).  I think my dislike of yellow goes back to my childhood, but that's another story.   Secondly, if I use glitter, it is never in such large quantities.  When I saw the sketch tho, I remembered this frame that I had glittered back when I first got the glitter.  Don't get me wrong, I love glitter, just not in large doses. Thirdly, the lilies .  I love lilies, just not white ones. The PTI challenge was to color using white ink.  I really enjoyed the process, but would like to try it with different colors. I am so happy to be participating once again in the PTI Blog Hop this month.  Here is the inspiration photo that was provided.  I have been wanting to do a layout about my love of Jane Austen novels for a while, I even bought PP for it.  For some reason, upon seeing this picture for the first time, the first thing that jumped into my head was Jane Austen.  It looks like a reading nook and the subtle colors maybe?  Not sure why, but Jane Austen it is. So here is my layout.  I wanted the books to look like they were on shelves. This quote is from the PTI set all booked up.  I thought it perfect for this layout.  I wanted to give this weeks PTI MIM #24 challenge, dry brushing, a try.  I also die cut some more PTI flowers using burlap.  In my post yesterday, I talked about the burlap fraying.  Well the mod podge did the trick.  Here is my MIM project and a close up of the flowers: Yes, another of my beloved note pads. I made thses cards about a week ago.  I wanted to try and make flowers out of burlap. I die cut the burlap using some PTI dies.  They started to fray almost immediatley. I have since read on someone's blog (sorry can't remember who) that if you cover the burlap in mod podge first they won't fray.  I have a piece of burlap mod podged and ready to go.  Will post the outcome asap. Hi there, Today I am participating in the PTI Make it Monday (MIM) Challenge.  This week Dawn McVey did a video on creating pockets using edger dies.  I don't have the PTI edger dies, I used a Tim Holtz die I have. Yesterday, I treated myself to this gorgeous new Authentique paper by Marjie Romney-Aslett.  I got the 6X6 "uncommon" bundle. This stuff is just beautiful. Once again, I was having visions, of the pocket made using vellum.  I am pretty happy with the way the card tuned out.  I dug out some old SU Rose Red paper and ink and it matched perfectly.  I had forgotten how much I liked this SU color. The tag and floral strip are from the Authentique paper.  I designed it so that the Heart Prints would show thru the heart that I die cut on the pocket.   Here is the tag: Iused lots of PTI goodies on this card.  the bottom part of it got torn apart about 5 times.  I made this for Card Pattern Sketch #123  At first I wasn't happy with the sentiment on the overlay.  It only took me about 50 tries to get it legible, without smearing the sentiment.  It actually looks pretty good in real life but the photo didn't look so hot.   I took of the overlay (of course, tearing the little squares beneath), replaced the squares and tried stamping directly on the squares.  The large button got in my way . Of course I did not realize this until I had already laid the stamp down.   I add more layers, move the button and stamped again.  It came out terrible because of the unevenness.   I consider myself to be a pretty level headed gal with lots of common sense, but at times like this my own stupidity just amazes me. Ever have that feeling? Or is it just me? Then I tore the large square off of the original card.   I adheard my 5th set...

I finally got out my new PTI Anniversary set, Botanical Silhouettes.  This is a set I earned for purchasing  sets last year.  It is a beautiful set, I really love it and the font combination is great. I made this set of two cards. I had a vision in my head of what I wanted to make and am happy to say that the cards turned out pretty close to what I had envisioned.  This doesn't happen too often.  I find that success is more likely if I use a sketch or case something.   All of the PP on the backgrounds are scraps (love when I can do this).  I used some SU inks, Nestabilities, PTI ribbon and card stock.  You can see my matching envelopes there too.  I try to add coordinating envelopes with all of my cards. Hi Everyone, I have a card to share today that I made for PTI's weekly Make it Monday challenge.  This weeks challenge was to apply ink with something other than a stamp and to use ink blending techniques. I started by blending my inks with a sponge on white paper.  I then die cut the doily die from the blended paper.  I stamped my new Newsprint background in vintage cream to the entire card front.  I wanted it to be very subtle.  I embossed the steam onto the doily with shimmery embossing powder.  For the sentiment, I used some old Justright stamps to create the first part "sending you a cup of" and the "sunshine" is from an old CTMH set I have.  I also used Warm Happiness stamps and die, Fillable Frames 4 and the little flower on the cup is from Tag Its 2.    Thanks for visiting.
